Believing God

This summer the ladies at camp have been doing a Bible study called “Believing God” by Beth Moore.  It is a ten week study and we are almost finished with it.  Throughout the study, my faith has been challenged and I have been reminded of what a BIG God I serve, and at times how little I trust Him.  God desires for us to ask for things we need and trust that he will provide, but in the middle of circumstances we tend to forget that.  However, God wants us to choose to believe that HE is fully capable of meeting our every need.  He wants us to ask big of Him and He wants us to believe big of Him.  He wants us to believe that He loves each one of us deeply and that He will provide for His children.

This past week, I have been reminded daily that God is and always will be bigger than any circumstance that I will ever face, and the only thing He is asking of me is to believe that He will do what He says He will do.  God is the creator of the universe and is fully in control of everything so why do we put all our trust in everything but Him?  Genesis 15:6 states that “Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.”  My friends I do not know what each of you are facing today, but choose to believe in the One who gives you life and will provide for your needs.

Steven Curtis Chapman

I had the AMAZING privilege of attending the Steven Curtis Chapman concert at the Biltmore House.  For those of you who do not know Steven lost his five year old daughter Maria to a tragic accident eleven weeks ago, and it was encouraging to hear Steven’s thoughts.  Even through his questions he is glorifying God and that is such a testimony of His faith in Christ.  He mentioned that following the accident, he thought he would never perform again.  However, the Lord reminded him who was in control and that he must continue on for the sake of the Gospel.  I cannot imagine what it must feel like to lose a child, but it is reassuring to know that no matter what happens in this life we will always have the hope of Christ.

Steven wrote a song for his latest album titled “Yours,” and it speaks about the One who is in control of everything, and who we ultimately belong to.  His story and these lyrics are a good reminder to me of that and I hope it encourages you as well!

“Yours” by Steven Curtis Chapman

I walk the streets of London
And notice in the faces passing by
Somthing that makes me stop and listen
My heart grows heavy with the cry

Where is the hope for London?
You whisper and my heart begins to soar
As I’m reminded
That every street in London in Yours
Oh, yes it is

I walk the dirt roads of Uganda
I see the scars that war has left behind
Hope like the sun is fading
They’re waiting for a cure no one can find

And I hear children’s voices singing
Of a God who heals and rescues and restores
And I’m reminded
That every child in Africa is Yours

And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
From the stars in the sky
To the depths of the ocean floor
And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
You’re the Maker and Keeper, Father and Ruler of everything
It’s all Yours

And I walk the sidewalks of Nashville
Like Singapore, Manila and Shanghai
I rush by the beggar’s hand and the wealthy man
And everywhere I look I realize

That just like the streets of London
For every man and woman, boy and girl
All of creation
This is our Father’s world

And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
From the stars in the sky
To the depths of the ocean floor
And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
You’re the Maker and Keeper, Father and Ruler of everything

It’s all Yours, God
It’s all Yours, God
It’s all Yours, God
It’s all Yours, God

The glory is Yours, God
All the honor is Yours, God
The power is Yours, God
The glory is Yours, God

You’re the King of Kings
And Lord of Lords

And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
From the stars in the sky
To the depths of the ocean floor
And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
All the greatness and power, the glory and splendor and majesty
Everything is Yours
Yeah, it’s all Yours
We are Yours
The glory and honor is Yours, everything is Yours

It’s all Yours, God
My life is Yours, my heart is Yours
My hands and my feet are Yours
Every song that I sing
It’s all Yours, all is Yours
All belongs to You
Our gifts are Yours, God
All our dreams are Yours, God
All our plans are Yours, God
The whole earth is Yours, God
Everything is Yours.

If you remember please keep the Chapman family in your prayers as they travel this week doing interviews with television shows namely Good Morning America with Robin Roberts (Wednesday, August 6 at 8AM on ABC), and Larry King Live on Thursday August 7 at 9PM on CNN. This is a wonderful opportunity for Christ to be proclaimed in a positive way in secular media so pray that God speaks through the Chapman family in mighty ways during this.

New Seasons

Hello everyone!  I am entering into a new season of life, and with this new season I thought it would be a good time to start a blog!    I recently graduated college, and am in the process of finishing up an internship at Camp Cedar Cliff in Asheville, North Carolina.   My official title here is office assistant, which means I do a little bit of everything from answering phones to helping with camp promotional stuff.  My time here has been both exciting and challenging, but my relationship with God has grown tremendously over the past three months.

Following camp, for the first time in five years, I will not be moving back to school.  That is a GREAT feeling, but it is also a little strange.  However, I am excited about this next phase of my life.  I feel that God is leading me to pursue a degree in Biblical counseling in which I will receive from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.  I will start the program in January, and until then I will be staying with my parents.  I am looking forward to having a time of rest spiritually, mentally, and physically, and I look forward to discovering what God has in store for me in the weeks and months ahead.  I may not know what to expect in my  future, but I am trusting in the one who does!

I look forward to sharing a part of my journey with you and I hope you will stop by often for a visit!  Stay tuned for more from my view whereever that may be!
